With the official unveil of the Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer at the first ever Call Of Duty XP event, we got the chance to try out MW3’s new Point Streak system.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3′s Point Streak rewards replace the killstreak rewards that have become standard for COD games. So now you generate rewards by racking up points through a variety of actions rather than just killing. Plants, defuses, captures, defends, assists, kills, headshots etc.. will give points that build up towards your rewards.
An additional change to the Point / Killstreak system is that rewards are actually seperated in to 3 sections, or Strike Packages, of which you choose a Strike Package and 3 of the rewards from that package for every single loadout. The 3 Strike Packages are Assault, Support and Specialist, each of which provides special rewards.
The Specialist Strike Package, however, offers you additional MW3 Perks for racking up points and kills. You get a new Perk for every 2 kills, get 8 kills and you’ll have all 14 of them active and once you die you lose them. The Assault and Support Strike Packages award you the “traditional” Killstreak Rewards.
If you choose the Support Supply Package your points don’t reset when you die. Respawn and proceed with the same points that you’ve accumulated.
